Intervals of Silence is an ongoing series of black-and-white photographs made in and around Portland Japanese Garden. In this work, I am drawn to the moments of pause the garden contains: intervals of stillness shaped by form, spacing, rhythm, and restraint. I return to the way stones, steps, trunks, shadows, and thresholds seem to embody a quiet intention, as if silence itself has been composed. Here I seek to make photographs that feel contemplative, ordered, and alive with cultivated silence.
Images from this series are available as archival fine art prints. Please contact me for pricing and framing information.
