Contours of Light & Silence is an ongoing series made in the sand dunes of Death Valley. In this work, I follow the meeting of light, shadow, contour, and stillness until the dunes are transformed into something quieter, more elemental, and more inward. I am drawn to the way these forms become a kind of visual calligraphy: gestures of tension and release, presence and absence, silence and motion. My restrained chiaroscuro approach is my interpretation of the dunes that I hope make these photos feel contemplative, sculptural, and alive with silence.
